In this year 2016, QUZAH Libya is in collaboration with activists and solidarity defenders of human rights and minorities, and homosexual activists and supporters of the Greater Maghreb countries (Libya-Tunisia-Morocco-Algeria), and Italy, organized by the Greater Maghreb group in the Gay pride 2016 Italy, was raised flags and emblems claim decriminalizing the homosexuality in the Greater Maghreb and it contravene the Universal declaration of Human rights and the Constitution provided for the protection and maintenance of human dignity of the citizen .
To reminder: our countries know a lot of violations of Human Rights and
especially physical and sexual rights and are thus making a step backwards in respecting individual liberties and the freedom of speech.
Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Queers are persecuted and are subjected to incriminatory laws based on
sexual orientations and gender identities i, and that is revealed in each of:
-Articles 483 and 489 of the Moroccan Penal Code
-Articles 333 and 338 of the Algerian Penal Code
-Articles 226, 226 bis and 230 of the Tunisian Criminal Code
-Articles 407 and 408 of the Libyan Penal Code
So: we still demand the cancellation of Article 407 and 408 of the Libyan penal code which criminalizes homosexual sexual relations, which in turn criminalizing people with homosexual orientation and gender identity,and various gender identity.
And also cancel all Articles criminalizing homosexuality in the Greater Maghreb.
It is still an ongoing struggle until love overcomes hate and love wins.
